How to claim for damaged cargo

Restrictions

1. Delivery Cargo Receipt ( DCR ) must have a note on any damages incurred upon delivery or withdrawal of the cargo(es).

2. Bill of Ladings with "OWNER'S RISK" are not eligible for claims.

3. Breakable, improperly packed items and perishable cargo(es) are not eligible for claims.

4. Steel bars and pipes are not eligible for claims unless properly crated.

5. Bill of Ladings with "SHIPPER'S LOAD AND COUNT" are not eligible for claims.

6. Claims must be made within 30 days of delivery or withdrawal.

 

 

Procedure

1. Write a claim letter addressed to the Claims Department describing the damage and amount to be claimed.

2. Attach the following documents with the claim letter:

a. Bill of Lading

b. Delivery Cargo Receipt ( DCR )

c. Sales Invoice or Official Receipt from the supplier of the damaged cargo(es)

3. Wait for the claim to be investigated to determine if it will be approved or denied.
